Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #148 |
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #148, 1953 - With all his money spent on Christmas, Donald Duck hatches a plan to get a free dinner from his cheapskate Uncle Scrooge. Coinciding with the holidays, this story is not quite as festive as it should be. Carl Barks instead gives us a stubborn battles of wills between Donald and Scrooge. Half the story is set in a restaurant, which provides little opportunity for visual interest. Still, Barks' drawing skills are impressive. This story was later reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #328. The artist later recreated the cover as a painting, subsequently used for Christmas Parade v4 #1. Other artists in this golden age comic include Paul Murry. This is 108 of 280 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues by Barks.

The "snowfall" effect on the website certainly works well with this cover. The window that frames Donald has some perspective/interior space issues- it looks more like a picture on the wall.
Yeah. Window is a little skewed.
