Batman #370 - Don Newton art

Batman v1 #370, 1984 - Robin foils an extortion racket, only to draw the ire of Dr. Fang and his criminal enterprise. Despite the dominant inks of Alfredo Alcala, Don Newton's hand is mostly evident throughout the story (see interior page above). His layouts begin conservatively, but improve as the plot builds toward the climax. Perhaps most memorable is Newton's opening splash, depicting a solo Robin atop a somber Gotham rooftop. Other artists in this issue include Ed Hannigan and Dick Giordano. This is number 26 of 34 Batman issues with Newton art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Newton or Batman issues.
