Western Hearts #2 |
Western Hearts v1 #2, 1950 - While trailblazing the Southwest, famed scout Kit Carson falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy New Mexico landowner. Al Williamson makes a rare early contribution to the romance genre, although his western tales are plentiful. Ably drawn, this brief story has little action, focusing instead on dialogue and character interactions. Frank Frazetta provides the inks, bringing texture and flourish to the pencils. Though only two pages, their work easily outshines the rest of the issue. This effort reminds me of their similar collaborative work on John Wayne Adventure Comics, published around the same time period. Other artists in this golden age comic include John Celardo and John Severin. This is 1 of 1 Western Hearts issues by Frazetta and 1 of 1 Western Hearts issues by Williamson.
