Thrilling Romances #24 |
Thrilling Romances v1 #24, 1952 - Head over heels in love, Amy follows a high school boy around incessantly. He soon catches the eye of her visiting cousin, an older, glamorous girl from the big city.
Alex Toth's sensitive drawings rest upon impeccably designed layouts. Pacing and sequencing are masterfully planned, utilizing silent panels, silhouettes and differing perspectives (see interior page below). The facial close-ups are powerfully emotive and expressive. In Toth’s second tale, a woman’s forthright opinions take their toll on people’s feelings. Similarly laid out, the artwork itself turns sloppy toward the end of this two-pager. Other artists in this golden age comic include Mike Sekowsky, Al Rubano, Art Saaf and Vince Colletta. Cover photo features Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. This is 4 of 4
