Prison Break v1 #1, 1951 - One of the few prison-themed comics at the time, this first issue boasts a gripping Wally Wood cover. The profile view of the gun moll amply displays her figure, but detracts from any illusion of depth. The artist did plenty of "good girl art" covers during this era, but this is not among his better efforts. Wood fares much better with his inside front cover, depicting the issue's contents. A montage of scenes reveal the seamy underworld of crime to young readers. This issue also includes artwork by Louis Ravielli.
