Rocky Lane's Black Jack v1 #27, 1959 - Told from the horse’s perspective, Black Jack’s herd is threatened by a wandering grizzly. Steve Ditko draws horses quite convincingly, but falters with most other animals. Consequently, some of the panels are clumsily designed while others are far too minimalist. Ditko’s layouts are also poorly planned, contributing to an overall mediocre effort. Other artists in this golden age western comic include Ernie Hart, Bill Molno and Vince Alascia.
