Strange Tales of the Unusual v1 #5, 1956 - In a department store, three people disappear in plain sight of the other customers. This mystery is competently illustrated by Steve Ditko. His linework is tigher, more precise than usual. A few panels look suspiciously like the contributions of another artist, but overall it's consistent with other works from the same era. On the title page, note the contrast between the detailed foreground against the minimal background. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ed Winiarski, Gene Colan, Reed Crandall, Henry Lazarus, Howard O' Donnell and Robert McCarty. Cover by Bill Everett.
