Man of Steel v1 #2, 1986 - Superman makes his debut in Metropolis, piquing the interest of an ambitious reporter named Lois Lane. John Byrne's superb pacing and layouts do most of the heavy lifting in this second issue. In some cases, they actually exceed his terrific drawings. Especially inventive is the sequence of Lois’ arrival at several Superman sightings (page 14). Byrne’s best moment is the opening splash, turning a casual breakfast at Metropolis cafe into an unforgettable event. This is 2 of 6 Man of Steel issues by Byrne.
