Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #36 - Carl Barks art

Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #36
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #36, 1943 - Not believing Donald's trapping tales, Huey, Louie and Dewey concoct a elaborate hoax to test his skills. Carl Barks uses a small recurring masthead at the top of each page to add cohesion to the story, but serves more as a distraction. His drawings, however, display more skill and confidence. Details are more plentiful, especially in the background trees and foliage. Other characters featured in this issue include Mickey Mouse and Cousin Bertie. Other artists in this Dell golden age humor comic include Al Taliaferro. Cover by Walt Kelly. This is 6 of 280 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues by Barks.

You have a great blog! I have fond memories from my childhood of the 12 cent comic books from the 60's. My father would sometimes come home from work with a bunch for me, mostly the Harvey collection (Casper, Spooky, etc.). Disney are great!
