Avengers v1 #188, 1979 - Passing through the Soviet Union, the Avengers offer their aid when disaster strikes at their largest nuclear power plant. John Byrne's cover, while adequate, tries a bit too hard at squeezing in all the heroes and villains within the confined space. His story art fares a little better, although his pencils are impacted by a change in inkers. Dan Green does a capable job on the first seven pages, but Frank Springer's inks lack clarity and sensitivity. Perhaps not coincidentally, Byrne's drawings seem to wane toward the end of the book.
