Tarzan #39 |
Tarzan v1 #39, 1952 - Arriving in his ancestral land his brother Natongo, Dan-El learns about his origins. This Brothers of the Spear back-up tale is the start of an exceptionally long run by Russ Manning (also his first professional start in comics). While his drawings are decidedly better than previous Tarzan issues, the artist still struggles with pacing and layout. Many faces, figures and settings appear overworked in detail. Manning would later abandon this style and opt for a simpler, streamlined approach. Other artists in this golden age comic include Jesse Marsh. Photo cover. This is 1 of 133 Tarzan issues by Manning. /// 1st start Russ Manning
