Strange Suspense Stories v2 #18, 1954 - A strange man carries a mysterious box on his shoulder at all times, leading some to wildly speculate on the contents. This early work by
Steve Ditko displays little of his later potential. His inexperience is most noticeable in the layouts and sequencing. His second tale, ''Dead Right'', is about an artisan who creates wax heads of historical murderers. Graphic linework and details support the main character's twisted facial expressions. The large, horrific opening panel sets the tone perfectly. Ditko's cover, unfortunately, falters in both theme and execution. This is 1 of 4
