Our Army at War v1 #184 featuring Sgt. Rock, 1967 - Tasked with being the firing squad for an army deserter, Sgt. Rock and crew are suddenly interrupted by a Nazi air attack.
Joe Kubert's fighting scenes are some of the most compelling of the war genre. His superb layouts incorporate multiple angles, creative panel frames and other effects. The best of these is the montage of characters in the midst of hand-to-hand combat on page 12. Kubert's deadly serious cover may have been better served by more understated colors.
