Marvel Comics Presents #72 - Barry Windsor Smith art & cover + 1st Wolverine origin

Barry Windsor Smith
Marvel Comics Presents Weapon X v1 #72, 1991 - Beginning a multi-part serial, the origin of Wolverine's adamantium claws and skeleton are revealed for the first time by writer and artist Barry Smith. He provides plenty of dark, moody drawings for this first person narrative. Pacing and layouts are carefully planned and constructed (see interior page below). The cover follows suit but is a tad less compelling. The high degree of craftsmanship is similar to Smith's 1980s work on the X-men. Other artists in this issue include Sandy Plunkett and Paul Gulacy. This is 1 of 13 Marvel Comics Presents issues by Smith. /// key 1st origin Wolverine / Smith gallery
