Detective Comics v1 #408, 1971 - Robin’s sudden disappearance leads the Batman to a remote, decrepit mansion on the outskirts of town. A nightmarish sequence of events ensue, including the caped crusader viewing his own funeral. This classic haunted house tale contains dark twists and turns, each superbly drawn by
Neal Adams. Just as impressive are the layouts and sequences, mounting tension each step of the way (see interior page below). Adams nears the end of his run on the series, but not before executing this memorable work. The only negative? The cover replicates one of the inside pages. This story was later reprinted in
Tales of the Batman: Marv Wolfman #1 and
Detective Comics #477. This is 22 of 38
Detective Comics issues by
Adams.
