World of Suspense #2 - Steve Ditko art

World of Suspense #2
World of Suspense v1 #2, 1956 - A deep sea diver discovers a hidden city off the Gulf of Mexico, frozen in the time of the Spanish Conquistadors. Effort and craftsmanship are evident in Steve Ditko's illustrations. Costumes, buildings and backgrounds are carefully constructed. The first panel is especially impressive, showing a bird's eye view of a fishing boat and its crew. A seagull glides toward us in the near foreground, completing a powerful layout while increasing the illusion of depth. Other artists in this golden age comic include Jack Abel, Bob Forgione and Ed Winiarski. Cover by Joe Maneely. This is 1 of 1 World of Suspense issues by Ditko.
