House of Secrets v1 #140, 1976 - Introduced in Swamp Thing, the Patchwork Man gets a shot at his own featured issue. Captured and flown to New York, the creature becomes the experimental subject of a prominent scientist. Nestor Redondo does a decent job with the pencils, though most of the inks appear to be the work of studio assistants. During a retelling of the character's origin (pages 9-11), the artist intentionally swipes Bernie Wrightson panels from Swamp Thing #3. This is the Patchwork Man's first solo, but there exists an unpublished follow up story. Cover by Ernie Chan. This is 10 of 10 House of Secrets issues by Redondo. /// key 1st solo Patchwork Man / Redondo gallery- - - - - - - - - -
