Unexpected #191 |
The Unexpected v1 #191, 1979 - A gravedigger surreptitiously robs the corpses of his own village, over the objections of his good-natured wife. The layouts are atypically dull for a Marshall Rogers story. His pencils are further hampered by the Bob Layton, whose heavy-handed inks stifle any spontaneity. Rogers' diagonal panel grid on page five is the sole point of interest (seen interior page below). This technique that should have been used more frequently to break up the monotony. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Alfredo Alcala, Gerry Talaoc, Nestor Malgapo, Fred Carrillo, E.R. Cruz, Steve Bissette, Vincente Alcazar, Jerry Grandenetti, John Calnan and Vince Colletta. Cover by Joe Orlando. This is 1 of 1 Unexpected issues by Rogers.
