1984 #3 - Alex Nino art

1984 (magazine) v1 #3, 1978 - Scientists from the future travel back in time to witness the first stirrings of life on Earth. Alex Nino employs a unusual grid system throughout most of the pages, placing smaller panels above and large, roomy panels below. When a microscopically-reduced space cruiser encounters living bacteria, the artist entends the bottom panels horizontally across the spread. The result is three disturbing yet stunning panoramas. Other artists in this issue include Richard Corben, Abel Laxamana, Herb Arnold, Alfredo Alcala, Jim Janes, Esteban Maroto, Jose Ortiz, Rudy Nebres and Patrick Woodroffee (cover). This is number 3 of 10 1984 magazine issues with Nino art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Nino or 1984 issues. See also this blog's Nino checklist.
