Roy Rogers and Trigger v1 #119, 1957 - For the first time in this series,
Alex Toth illustrates the main Roy Rogers feature as well as a lengthy back-up tale. His rendition of the cowboy actor is impressive, and better than most of his peers at the time. Both Toth stories are initially hampered by small opening title panels, but as the pages progress his visual storytelling hits its stride. His renowned use of economy and clarity are well represented here, but his secondary tale has noticeably more aesthetic appeal. The crowd scene on page two, panel three (see interior page below) is an especially thorough and well executed design. Photo cover. This is 2 of 7
