Valor #2 - Al Williamson art & cover, Wally Wood art

Al Williamson
Valor v1 #2, 1955 - One of Al Williamson's few golden age covers feature two gladiators in an arena. The flowery, decorative background contrasts against the more violent scene of two men fighting to the death. Williamson's cover story is nearly as good, portraying ancient Rome through period clothing and architecture. Wally Wood's tale, set during the age of knighthood, benefits from scenic, pastoral backdrops throughout most of the story. Both stories were later reprinted in Valor v2 #2. Other artists in this golden age comic include Reed Crandall, Bernie Krigstein and Graham Ingels. This is 2 of 4 Valor issues by Williamson and 2 of 4 Valor issues by Wood.
