Eclipse Monthly #1 |
Eclipse Monthly v1 #1, 1983 - The crowded cover displays several familiar characters, all drawn by their respective artists.
Steve Ditko's
Static, making his
first
appearance, is the result of an electrical experiment that goes awry. The hero's transformation scene is Ditko at his most visually arresting. In
Marshall Rogers' tale, a boy invents a pair of futuristic sneakers. Cap'n Quick and a Foozle is fun, imaginative, and includes some striking special effects (see interior page below). Rogers handles the kid genre surprisingly well. This issue also includes artwork by Doug Wildey. This is 1 of 3
Eclipse Monthly issues by
Ditko and 1 of 5 Eclipse Monthly issues by
Rogers. ///

While the writing and dialouge has its share of problems I thought this was one of Ditko's best work of the period. The costume design is another sensational, and I love the name.
