Cheyenne Kid v1 #10, 1957 - An
Al Williamson tale recounts the the events leading up to the massacre at Little Big Horn. The Cheyenne Kid is incorporated into this book-length story, divided into into three chapters. Williamson's initial drawings are less than adequate, coupled with largely tedious layouts. As the story progresses, the art makes marginal improvements, particularly in the characters' faces (this story was later reprinted in
Al Williamson Forbidden Worlds). On the other hand,
Steve Ditko delivers an extraordinary cover. Complex but well organized, the artist conveys the overwhelming forces, the ferocity of their attack, and the hopelessness of General Custer's cause. Other artists in this golden age comic include Bill Molno and Sal Trapani. This is 1 of 1
