Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge v1 #8, 1955 - While beach-combing, Huey, Louie and Dewey find an SOS message in a bottle. Donald and the boys quickly sail to the sender's remote island, accompanied by Uncle Scrooge. The artwork by Carl Barks is eagerly drawn, especially the flora and fauna of the locale. The high point is Scrooge's encounter with a mysterious invention that turns people into stone (page 19). Although machine-like in nature, it also takes on an amusingly human face. A second Barks tale tells of Scrooge's election woes in running for a local office. This was later reprinted in Best of Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge #2 (along with two single-pagers) and Uncle Scrooge #111. This is 8 of 70 Uncle Scrooge issues by Barks. /// original page
