Tarzan #121 - Russ Manning art

Tarzan v1 #121, 1960 - Fending off attackers and leading an army, young Queen Tavane defies convention in this proto-feminist Brothers of the Spear tale. Russ Manning's work, as usual, is smooth and graceful. Among the artistic high points are the Queen's defiant portrait on page 2 (see interior page below) and the vista of an extinct volcano turned fortress (page 4 panel 5). This story was later reprinted in Tarzan #198. Other artists in this issue include Jesse Marsh (on Tarzan). This is number 83 of 132 Tarzan issues with Manning art and/or covers (not including reprints).
