Tarzan #158 |
Tarzan of the Apes v1 #158, 1966 - Adapting Edgar Rice Burroughs' Son of Tarzan, Tarzan's teenage son Jack makes his way to Africa and adopts the name Korak. This appears to be his first origin in comics, long after the premiere of
his own series.
Russ Manning uses a handful of larger panels for maximum dramatic effect. This includes the opening scene of Korak, whimsically dangling upside down from a tree. This story was later reprinted in
Golden Comic Digest #9. After an exceptionally long run, Manning also draws the
Brothers of the Spear back-up story. Other artists in this silver age comic include Nat Edson. Cover by George Wilson. This is 120 of 133
Tarzan issues by
Manning.
