Haunted v1 #7, 1972 -
Steve Ditko's cover is a little too simplistic for my horror comic tastes, looking more silly than sinister. Inside, his two stories fare considerably better. A stranded couple finds refuge in an old mansion in "Stop The Clock", where they become guests of an old eccentric. The tale begins slowly but gets more interesting with each page, culminating in a surreal full page splash. This tale was later reprinted in
Scary Tales #14. The cover story tells of a young man attempting to woo an older widow. A spider is prevalent throughout the panels, drawn proportionally larger for greater disturbing effect. Both Ditko stories are equally splendid. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Pat Boyette and Pete Morisi. This is 7 of 23
