Werewolf By Night v1 #5, 1973 - With his sister held hostage, Jack Russell is forced to use his werewolf persona to kill a rich, but senile old man. Mike Ploog pencils and inks his only story for this series, with spectacular results. Starting with a rain-soaked opening splash, the artwork progresses from a recap of previous events to pulse pounding action. The drawings culminate in a clever juxtaposition of the werewolf and his prey (page 13). Overall, Ploog's work is wildly expressive and texturally rich.
