X-men v1 #113, 1978 - The heroes escape Magneto's shackles, but find themselves trapped in his imploding base, hidden deep within a volcano. John Byrne draws the X-men's showdown with Magneto with verve and enthusiasm. Just as interesting, a sequence the story's beginning offers vignettes of Storm's tumultuous childhood. Byrne's depiction of her perfectly captures the character's determination and humanity. While the cover lacks depth, the interior artwork meets and even exceeds expectations.
