Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #265 |
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #265, 1962 - To raise money for a civic cause, Uncle Scrooge puts his first dime (“Old Number One”) on display. Unfortunately, the sorceress Magica De Spell plans to steal it for one of her most ambitious spells. In a nod to Edgar Allen Poe, Carl Barks uses a black raven (quoting “Nevermore”) as an integral character in the plot. While not as visually engaging as other works, the artwork nonetheless suffices. This story was later reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #415. Other artists in this silver age comic include Paul Murry. This is 225 of 280 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues issues by Barks.
