Donald Duck #45 |
Walt Disney's Donald Duck v1 #45, 1956 - After a decade of full-length Donald Duck features,
Carl Barks does his first short story for this title. Donald Duck's new job as a dogcatcher goes awry, especially when he crosses paths with an ongoing fox hunt. One particular scene cleverly uses repetitive panels (see interior page below), that nearly mimic animation. Despite only six pages, Barks' witty illustrations enhance an enjoyably written tale. This story was reprinted in
Donald Duck #157 and >
Donald Duck Adventures #19. The artist also includes a single gag page, later reprinted in
Donald Duck #248. Other artists in this golden age comic include Phil De Lara and Paul Murry. Cover by Tony Strobl. This is 32 of 43
Donald Duck by
Barks.
