Superman v1 #254, 1972 -
Neal Adams illustrates a terrific back-up story devoid of super-villains, super-heroes or obligatory fight scenes. Clark Kent is cajoled into babysitting a neighbor's toddler for a short time, only to find the task almost too daunting for even a man of steel. Elliot S. Maggin's tale is drawn in a humbly realistic style that emphasizes interaction between characters. It is reminiscent of Adams' much earlier work on the newspaper strip Ben Casey. While not as well known as other works, this is one of his best and most underrated bronze age efforts. This story was later reprinted in
Best of DC #25. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson. Cover by Nick Cardy, not by Adams as credited in some comic book price guides. This is 25 of 32
