Tim Holt v1 #11, 1949 - In a backup to the main feature, Rex Fury and friend are captured by hostile indians hired by rogue businessman Bart Lasher. The prisoners are thrown into a deadly whirlpool, but they miraculously survive downstream. Formerly known as the Calico Kid, Rex now becomes the Ghost Rider to mete out justice. His (maskless) first appearance was written by Raymond Krank and drawn by Dick Ayers. The hero appears in small insets on two covers (Tim Holt #11 and #16), but his first full cover appearance is issue #17. Other artists in this issue include Frank Bolle. Photo cover. A year would pass before the Ghost Rider begins his own self-titled series.
