Star Spangled War Stories v2 #120 - Joe Kubert cover

Joe Kubert

Star Spangled War Stories v2 #120, 1965 - A gargantuan fish monster that grabs tanks during World War II? Sure, why not. Breaking from the conventional war story, Joe Kubert draws the cover with all seriousness. The strange creature is intricately detailed, showing an uncommon realism for the sci-fi/war genre. Featuring an early version of the Suicide Squad, the interiors are drawn by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito.
