Phantom Lady #16 - Matt Baker art & cover

Matt Baker
Phantom Lady v1 #16, 1948 - An ex-convict and his girl dig up the loot he buried in a basement twenty years ago. The Phantom Lady catches them in the act and discovers there's also skeletal remains of two victims. Matt Baker's "good girl" cover is nicely drawn, despite the odd perspective of gunman's hand right outside the window. His interiors are better, with its inventive panel shapes and layouts (see interior page beow). Other artists in this golden age issue include Gil Kane.
