Creepy #32 - Frank Frazetta cover, Neal Adams art

Frank Frazetta
Creepy v1 #32, 1970 - Is it a creature or a statue? This foreboding scene omits the feet, but the skulls below suggest something more sinister. Frank Frazetta's cover serves as the inspiration for the Neal Adams story inside. Penned by sci-fi author Harlan Ellison, "Rock God" is drawn with great care and detail. The first page nicely incorporates the title within the artwork itself. Adams shows a mastery of the horror genre, similar to his early seventies work for DC. The artist also drew portraits of himself, Ellison and Frazetta on a preceding page. Other artists in this magazine include Bill Black, Mike Royer and Ernie Colon. This is 4 of 5 Creepy issues by Adams and 15 of 15 Creepy issues by Frazetta.
