Tarzan v1 #102, 1958 - Dan-El leads his troops back to Aba-Zulu, only to run into enemy tribe and a sandstorm at the same time. Meanwhile, Natongo, Zulena and Tavane are captured by the Tuaregs. Dell Publishing's grid system for layouts is fairly rigid, but Russ Manning manages to compose artful scenes within the panels. Note his even-handed use of lights and darks in the page below, which is indicative of his approach to the entire story. Other artists in this issue include Jesse Marsh (on the lead Tarzan feature).
