Mike Ploog profile

Mike Ploog (1942-) - Born in Minnesota and raised in California, Ploog spent a decade in the US marines before leaving and finding animation work in the late 1960s. A four year stint drawing military comics with Will Eisner honed his talents. His first mainstream published piece appeared in Creepy #44. In the early 1970s, Ploog began working for Marvel, popularizing new monster-type characters in Werewolf by Night, Frankenstein, Man-Thing and Marvel Spotlight. His style was flowing, organic and almost viscous. His figures seemed to be in constant movement, occasionally bordering on cartoonish. Although Eisner's influence is clearly evident, the artist also developed his own unique, contemporary voice. Read more on Wikipedia.
