Thor v1 #126, 1966 - In a story continued from Journey into Mystery, Hercules fights Thor in order to curry favor from Jane Foster. This first issue features two battling heroes, marking the start of Thor's first self-titled series. Jack Kirby opens with a compelling splash page and inserts another in the midst of the action. His layouts remain intact, but his drawings largely falter due to the less than adequate inking. This story was later reprinted in Marvel Treasury Edition #3. Walt Simonson pays homage to this powerful cover in Thor #338. This is 1 of 54 Thor issues by Kirby. /// key 1st issue
