Thor v1 #338, 1984 - A new masthead adorns this cover, replacing the one destroyed in the previous issue. Though it seems to reference ancient Viking runes, it still looks fresh and contemporary. Walt Simonson's cover focuses on the legendary hammer's inscription, while featuring Thor and Beta Ray Bill (an homage to the cover of Thor #126). Inside, the opening splash depicts the anguish of both Thor and his alter ego Don Blake. Layouts and panel sequences are thoughtfully planned throughout. The ensuing battle between the two heroes has excitement, tension and clarity. Nick Fury also makes a cameo appearance. This is number 12 of 41 Thor issues with Simonson art and/or covers.
