House of Secrets #83 |
House of Secrets v1 #83, 1969 - As a dying man sleeps, he dreams of another dimension where he commits heroic deeds and wins the heart of a princess. Alex Toth uses his imagination to create a strangely fantastical yet palatable world. The graphic approach to his illustrations is comparable to his other works drawn in the same era. The opening splash, using multi-sequencing, montage and psychedelic typography, is weirdly compelling. Kudos go to Toth for risking such experimentation. This story was later reprinted in
DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest #24. Other artists in this silver age comic include Gray Morrow, Bill Draut, Dick Giordano, Art Saaf and Frank Giacoia. Cover by Bill Draut. This is 7 of 8
