Savage Sword of Conan #30 - Frank Brunner art & cover

Frank Brunner
Savage Sword of Conan v1 #30, 1978 - Chronicled from his time as king of Aquilonia, Conan is captured by enemy forces and subjected to the whims of a powerful wizard. Frank Brunner illustrates his longest tale, spanning across just over forty pages. His drawings are high contrast, using light and shadow to full dramatic effect (see interior page below). Five chapter headings feature larger panels, controlling the pace of the story. Perhaps most impressive is his double age spread (pages 2-3), depicting a lone Conan standing among his fallen soldiers. Drawn in excruciating detail, the scene is far more impactful than his hastily painted cover. This is 3 of 3 Savage Sword of Conan issues by Brunner. /// original page
