Monsters Unleashed v1 #3, 1973 - Combining old and new material, the standouts in this issue are the Man-Thing’s origin (from
Savage Tales #1) and a tale of a barbarian couple from Earth’s far-flung future. Gil Kane’s credible pencils are inked by several artists, joining forces as the Crusty Bunkers. Ralph Reese does an admirable job with the first two pages, while
Neal Adams finishes many of the figures and faces on subsequent pages. His contributions seem less dominant than other works, and his style a bit less recognizable. This bronze age story was later reprinted in
Monsters Unleashed annual #1. Adams’ cover painting is far more impactful, depicting an angry Man-Thing nearing a scantily-clad, yet terrified woman. This is 2 of 2
Monsters Unleashed issues by
Adams.
