Our Army at War #199 - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
Our Army at War v1 #199 featuring Sgt. Rock, 1968 - High in the Austrian-Italian Alps, Sgt. Rock’s crew is spooked by an eerie castle and its company of howling wolves. Joe Kubert combines the war and horror genres seamlessly. While his cover falls short of the interiors, his double page spread imaginatively superimposes a ghostly wolf over Easy Company’s scattered soldiers. Other highlights include the skeletal warning that greets the already nervous patrol (page 8). Other artists in this silver age comic include Frank Thorne. This is 134 of 236 Our Army at War issues by Kubert.
