Adventure Comics #460 - Don Newton art

Adventure Comics v1 #460, 1978 - Continuing the saga of the New Gods, Darkseid tries to be the first to pierce the fabled Final Barrier in space. In a separate feature, Aquaman investigates the killing of whales off the coast of Coney Island. Both drawn by Don Newton, the first story is less clearly delineated. The layouts and pacing throughout also seem more haphazard. By contrast, the Aquaman tale is more robust. Depth and clarity are enhanced due to Dan Adkin's seasoned inks (see interior page below). Other artists in this issue include Jim Aparo, Joe Staton, Jack Abel and others. This is number 2 of 8 Adventure Comics issues with Newton art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Newton or Adventure Comics issues. See also this blog's Don Newton checklist.
