First Love Illustrated #88 - non-attributed Matt Baker art

First Love Illustrated #88
First Love Illustrated v1 #88, 1957 - While riding on a bus, an engaged woman falls for a stranger who's never even spoken to her. This non-attributed work by Matt Baker has all of his hallmarks: consummate figure drawing, communicative faces and more. On the negative side, the pencils are almost sketch-like in nature, lacking weight and clarity (see interior page below). The unknown inker's weak approach diminishes the artwork as a whole. Baker's hand is recognizable but not representative of his talents. Other artists in this golden age comic include Bob Powell. This is 3 of 5 First Love Illustrated issues by Baker.
