Creepy #69 - Bernie Wrightson art

Creepy magazine v1 #69, 1975 - Bernie Wrightson's inside front cover features yet another duotone (black and purple) portrait. Opening his tome, Uncle Creepy announces the theme for this issue: a collection of Edgar Allen Poe adaptations. Wrightson's line quality is superb throughout the illustration. The careful rendering of wood grains on the podium and background are a testament to his skill. Other artists in this issue include Richard Corben, Vincente Alcazar and Ken Kelly (cover). This is number 7 of 19 Creepy issues with Wrightson art and/or covers (not including reprints). See today's posts or more Wrightson or Creepy issues.
