Fightin' Marines #5 - Matt Baker art & cover

Matt Baker
Fightin' Marines v1 #5, 1952 - When a stack of pin-up photos gets destroyed, Canteen Kate willingly volunteers to pose for more. The plot gives Matt Baker ample reason to create plenty of cheesecake panels (see interior page below). His figure drawings are splendid throughout this relatively short story. By contrast, Baker's somber cover displays the rigors of war. Both the cover and story were later reprinted in Fightin' Marines #15. Other artists in this golden age comic include Gene Colan. This is 5 of 11 Fightin' Marines issues by Baker. /// Baker gallery
