X-men v1 #266, 1990 - Storm, after being mysteriously changed into their childhood self, is trapped in the Shadow King's opulent riverfront mansion. She barely escapes, but only with the aid of a mutant thief called Gambit. Note that this issue follows his cameo in X-men annual #14, where he appears mostly in the background of ten panels. X-men #266 is generally regarded as Gambit's first full appearance, which is certainly reinforced by the cover. This Chris Claremont story was drawn by Mike Collins and Joe Rubinstein.
