Love Romances #49 |
Love Romances v1 #49, 1955 - Alex Toth drew comparatively few stories for Atlas publishing, including this romantic gem. This tale of a woman who vows never to marry a poor man is drawn with great sensitivity. The frequent close-ups allow readers to share the characters' intimacy. Toth's mastery of facial expressions and gestures convey nuances of the story without sacrificing craftsmanship. The opening scene of an older married couple looking upon young lovers nicely conveys the early and mature stages of a relationship. Mike Peppe, a frequent partner on romance stories, provides appropriately subtle inks. Other artists in this golden age comic include Jay Scott Pike and Vince Colletta. Cover by Colletta. This is 1 of 2 Love Romances issues by Toth.
